TO ALL T-BALL AND INSTRUCTIONAL BASEBALL FAMILIES

What is the Instructional Baseball League? The Instructional League for Baseball is made up of two divisions, our T-Ball Division and our Instructional Division. Our T-Ball division is made up of the leagues 4 year olds, while our Instructional Division includes the leagues baseball 5 and 6 year olds (see Little League age chart).

Where are games/practices played? Instructional - All games and practices will be taking place at our Conley Fields. For the past couple years all teams have practiced together on the same day participating in multiple drills for all to partake in and we will be looking to continue with this during the season. A practice day for the week will be decided upon once coaches are appointed. Games will take place on Saturdays for the Instructional Division.

T-Ball – Our 4 year olds playing T-Ball will also find all games/practices at our Conley Fields. Our T-Ball division meets once per week on Sundays, unless appointed coaches schedule additional time for their teams.

What do games look like? Instructional – Considered to be more like a scrimmage, teams will play against each other in non-umpired 3 inning games on Saturdays. Lineups will be continuous and all players will have chance to play the field and bat each inning. The last batter will clear the bases with a grand slam as each batter before will hit singles and run the bases. No outs are called, but fielders will be encouraged by coaches in the field to play the ball and get the out. Coaches will split players up on the field with actual position play within the infield and continued skill development in the outfields.

T-Ball – There are no scheduled games for this division, but when decided on amongst appointed coaches scrimmages will look similar to the Instructional games.

What does my player need for equipment? Players will receive a team uniform that includes a hat and jersey, player will also have the option(s) to wear baseball pants, cleats and protective cup. At this age it is important to show the players what a uniform looks like and what to expect moving forward with the game. The league will provide each coach with an equipment bag that includes helmets, bats and balls. Players are always welcome to purchase and use their own equipment, but are responsible for making sure equipment purchased and used falls under Little League protocol.

We are looking towards another great season in the Instructional League and are still looking for volunteers interested in coaching a team and/or helping within the divisions. Once your player is placed on a team (s)he will soon after be contacted by his or her coach with more details. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering for this upcoming season please contact Farm/Interim Instructional League Director Ryan Doyle at rdoyle51@gmail.com or any member of the WBSA Board of Directors.

ATTN: FARM LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYERS

What is Farm League Baseball? The Farm League is for players 7 and 8 years old (Born between September 1, 2010 - August 31, 2012) that serves as an important bridge and development period for the players. Players that are coming up from the Instructional divisions often refer to Farm as the "REAL BASEBALL." During these years players continue to develop their skills and learning about the game before they begin playing Minors and Majors as 9-12-year old's.

Where are games/practices played? All games and practices will be taking place at our Conley Fields. Games will take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays each week and league appointed coaches will be able to make a final decision on their teams practice days.

Why do player's call it "Real Baseball"? Players call it "Real Baseball" because this will be the first time when players will compete in scheduled 6 inning umpired games. Pitching is split between kid/machine/coach pitch, lineups for all teams will be set in a continuous order and coaches are encouraged to play each player at a variety of positions.

What does my player need for equipment? Players will receive a team uniform that includes a hat and jersey, players will need baseball pants, cleats and protective cup. The league will provide each coach with an equipment bag that includes helmets, bats, catchers gear and balls (game and practice). Players are always welcome to purchase and use their own equipment, but are responsible for making sure equipment purchased and used falls under Little League protocol.

REGISTER YOUR PLAYER AND COME TO OUR FARM EVALUATION DAY!!!

Once your player is registered (s)he will be entered into our player pool and is invited to participate in our Farm Evaluation day on March 23rd at the Middle School (MORE INFO TO COME.) The evaluation day is for ALL BASEBALL PLAYERS AND COACHES FROM THE Farm level. Players will be participating in a variety of skill assessments which will allow the league to construct teams based on skill levels and will help create a competitive environment for teams competing in the upcoming season. Be on the lookout for more info becomes available with set times still in the works.

We are looking towards another great season in Farm this year and are still looking for volunteers interested in coaching a team. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering for this upcoming season please contact Farm League Director Ryan Doyle at rdoyle51@gmail.com or any member of the WBSA Board of Directors.

Returning equipment

Good afternoon WBSA Spring and Summer 2018 Coaches!

WBSA is still looking for equipment bags, issued to spring and summer 2018 coaches, to be returned to the league.  Even if you are interested in coaching again in 2019, the league strongly urges you to return the bag issued to you for the spring 2018 season.  The equipment bags need to be inventoried, refurbished and replenished for the upcoming season.

It is very important to the league that 100% of issued equipment is returned back to WBSA.  Even if items have to be replaced or refurbished, returning equipment bags allows the league to keep yearly player fees consistent.

If you were unable to attend the latest equipment drop off day, please reach out to WBSA Equipment Manager Dan McCallum to make arrangements to give the equipment to him. He can be reached at or called or texted at 617-653-4046.

WBSA thanks you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
